It’s that time again! Can you believe it? Well I can! Because if you know anything about me at all, you know this is my season. As a new home owner myself, I thought about some of the things that made my home more welcoming and cozy and thought I’d share some of these with you.
I know around Christmas time a lot of us have tonnes of spending to cut back on so I thought a budget friendly gift guide would be ideal. Of course budget friendly means different things to each of us, so with that in mind, I mixed things up a bit. Here are a couple gifts you can get for your new home owner friends and family for Christmas.
An Essential Oil Diffuser
$16.99
When we just moved in our home smelled a bit stuffy and dusty. It took some time to get that scent out even though we tried the traditional air freshener and mopped everyday. I saw another blogger raving about having a diffuser running and how much of a difference it made to her space. I decided to get one and now there is no turning back. What was I even waiting on? This one is fantastic. It has great reviews and loads of people have used it. Including me. It sits on top my bookshelf in a room at the center of the house so the aromatic smells of peppermint permeates almost every space. I use these essential oils with it. The Peppermint and Sweet Orange are my favorites.
A Toolkit
$15.99
We had one since our renting days and it never failed us. Matter of fact, it didn’t fail our neighbors in our complex either because they always came to borrow it. Lol. Having a toolkit is very much a necessity as a home owner, especially if you’re a new home owner. We had so many little bits and bobs to fix and adjust before and while moving in. Even now, there is always use for it. My husband loves this one. It’s cheap, good quality and has everything under the sun tools wise.
A Mason Jar Soap dispenser
$14.95
Ok I know these are trendy but they’re the only ones that seem to be rust resistant while looking cute at the same time. They’re made of glass and have a strong sturdy pump. I have them in the kitchen and both bathrooms and they add a little oomph to the space. You can use it for so many other things as well. Lotion, shampoo and conditioner, body oils, everything. The options are endless.
A Coffee maker
$54
This is self explanatory. Coffee is a must when moving. Lol. Ok that’s a bit of an over exaggeration but if the person loves coffee and doesn’t already have a coffee maker, then this is your best bet. Actually, I know someone who has five, yes five coffee makers. They come in all size, makes and colors. Quite fascinating if you ask me. I love this one as it’s easy to use and pumps out coffee just as I like it. I mean what more can you want from a coffee maker?
A plant and planter
$10 +
I know. Not everyone likes plants, and until I moved into my own space, I didn’t like them either. I had a lucky bamboo and that was pretty much it. But you know what? It lights up any space. It brings life and color to your home without even trying. Any new home owner needs that, as yes you may already have stuff to fill the space, but you need something to make it feel like home. If that makes sense. I love to give easy to care for plants to people. Whether they like plants or not. You can aim for a lucky bamboo, sansevieria, pothos or fiddle leaf fig tree. Don’t forget a planter!
Fancy Clothes Hamper
$20
I’m still using the cheapy plastic ones but I’m eyeing a few cloth ones. Especially this one! They are so beautiful! Believe it or not, at our house the bathrooms are the only rooms close to completion in terms of decor and all they’re missing are a couple of nice clothes hampers. These are so versatile and can be used as planters, toy baskets, towel holders and so much more. This gift is a no brainer.
Long Stem Wine Glasses
$15
One can never have too many wine glasses. Even if you don’t drink wine. Lol. You’ll always have guests or if you’re like me, they can always be more decorative than functional. There are tons out there to choose from but these are my favorites. They’re good looking and of such good quality. Bound to last a very long time (if you don’t have a husband like mine that lives to break glassware).
What affordable gifts can you recommend for a new home owner? Do tell!
